To make Maccha Latte or also just Maccha (or «Matcha») at home, a Maccha whisk, also called Chasen, is essential. The Chasen helps you to dissolve the very finely ground Maccha powder – for example the high-quality Maccha by Länggass Tee, which we use at our café – in a little bit of hot water very easily. After doing so, you may mix it with foamed or cold milk or milk alternatives, as you wish.
Make sure not to use boiling water! Otherwise, your drink will inevitably taste very bitter. We recommend around 80°c and about 2-3 grams of Maccha for a 2.5 dl cup. A detailed recipe can also be found in our Brew Guides.
Our tip: Use a fine kitchen strainer when adding the Maccha powder to the hot water in order to avoid clumping.
